Prostate cancer patients on antiandrogen therapy are at risk of bone loss, secondary osteoporosis development, pathological fractures and impaired quality of life. There is still very little attention paid to this group of patients. This fact is underlined by the presented case reports. In both cases, long-lasting androgen deprivation therapy led to vertebral compression fractures due to secondary osteo porosis. These fractures had a significant negative influence on the patients' quality of life. Antiosteoporotic therapy had excellent ef fects relieving pain and increasing bone density.

Reported is a case of a 53-year-old woman with long-lasting back pain and severe hypercalcemia. Based on laboratory findings and ima ging methods, the condition was diagnosed as primary hyperparathyroidism with suspected parathyroid adenoma at the lower pole of the right thyroid lobe. Due to an incidental finding of a cold nodule in the right thyroid lobe, apart from excision of the adenoma, right thyroid lobectomy was performed in the patient. The definitive histological finding confirmed parathyroid adenoma and, sur prisingly, revealed papillary thyroid carcinoma. Therefore, total thyroidectomy was carried out, followed by radioiodine therapy....

Object: The object of this study has analyzed alveolar bone reponse under the influence chromium (VI). Methods: 20 male albino rats (300-325 g) have been evaluated for histological and scanning electron microscopy of Ca, P, K, Cr. Results: The interaction between normal periodontal tissues and 60 days experiment was strongly significant. Destruction may progress until tooth support becomes inadequate and more complex patterns of bone loss develop. Despite the deep extension of in flammation it may be absent in the alveolar bone, which may also lack any sign of osteoclastic activity histologically. The lowest levels of P and K were observed in 60 days...
