Purpose of the work: Vertebro and kyphoplasty [VP, KP] is a new method, which is used in the treatment of the osteoporotic verteb­ ral fractures. It's relatively simple and safe technique, which brings almost immediate loss of pain and the possibility of early patients mobilization. Osteoporosis therapy is closely linked to basic research and development of new antiosteoporotic drugs is a very dynamic process. There are great expectations regarding denosumab (AMG 162), which is a human monoclonal antibody to RANKL. Denosumab is very potent in decreasing bone resorption. Another future antiosteoporotic drug seems to be glucagon-like-peptide-2 (GLP-2), which has proven a strong antiresorptive efficacy.
