Authors review actual knowledge about problem of relation of systemic sclerosis and osteoporosis. On the basis of published data sys­ temic sclerosis can not be confirmed as an independent risk factor of osteoporosis. Many other factors coincide here: preliminary me­ nopause, low muscle mass, low fat mass, low BMI, extension of cutaneous defects, presence of calcinosis, other organs damage and drugs. Seriousness of bone injury is comparable with that seen in rheumatoid arthritis.
